Teams appear

As more details on WUCC 2010 pop the most exciting to date is a partial list of teams on the WUCC 2010 website (http://www.wucc2010.com/content/registered-teams). It’s a known partial list as many names don’t appear on the list (Lotus and Mephisto to name two) and much is left to conjecture as to what other teams we will see. What is known is that this promises to be a hard fought tournament on all sides.

An update to yesterdays post, a list of countries that are confirmed and/or very likely to attend are as follows: Australia Austria Colombia Finland Great Britain Germany Ireland Italy Japan Latvia New Zealand Poland Russia Sweden The US (UPA) may be convinced to attend, more details as that develops. Jeff Rathburn (Masters player on Fossil) commented on the post yesterday questioning why a U23 tournament is being held. I have thoughts of my own but please feel free to chime in with yours.

Getting a player out?

Like many of you I play in several leagues in Southern Ontario. Also probably like you I’ve noticed several talented players and put them in contact with the appropriate touring coaches so that they are placed on touring teams. All have met with general approval and have become good or great players in the region. Of course, one runs into various personalities and problems as one mentors these players. Many problems are easy to solve and simple require training.

New Faces

Last night I traveled to Toronto for my first proper TUCleague game and I was pleasantly surprised. A bit of background first, I live in Waterloo on the far side away from Toronto. The drive there takes at least 80 to 90 minutes when there’s no traffic or snow (heading to very near Downtown Toronto) and costs a pretty penny in fuel when considering it’s to play a game for 55 minutes.

ODSA 2009 AGM

Today I headed to the ODSAAGM held in Toronto for what was expected to be a very interesting AGM. Parts of this post are written while I was at the AGM so there will be a changes in tense as you read on. A bit of background (I can chat about this because it’s public) on why it’s interesting is that there is general discontent amongst Ultimate clubs in Ontario with ODSA’s governing body (board and Executive Director).
