Welcome to this SuperBowl edition of Sidelines! But only because the game is Sunday, I predict a boringly efficient game, and I really don’t care which of Tom or Eli gets another ring. Readers, I’ve returned from Praha and while there’s much to discuss from that event I want to provide a quick update on the players I watched at WUCC 2010.

In our world
It’s an exciting weekend coming up for us in this part of Ontario as well as in Europe.
I am heading to Cleveland No-Surf with Too Bad.
A number of friends (Rahil, Marc, and others) are heading to Northern Flights in North Bay. We should get a decent look at what’s going on in Ontario Mixed Ultimate based upon weekend results.
Hilco is off to UK Tour II (where he’ll encounter an Australian team that’s on a European tour as part of their WUCC experience). More details on this when he returns.
A younger group of friends are attending training camp for the Canadian U23 team in Vancouver.

Canada U23 Plans
As posted in the Ultimate Canada website:
Ultimate Canada will be sending teams to the 2010 U23 World Championships in the open and women’s division. Tryouts are expected to take place in early May with one tryout in the “East” (Ottawa or Toronto) and one tryout in Vancouver. The coaching selection process has begun and the exact tryout dates/location along with player application forms & additional information will be made available once head coaches are selected.
Ultimate Canada enverra des équipes des divisions Femmes et Open aux Championnats du Monde U23 de 2010. Les camps de sélection (un à Toronto ou Ottwaw et un à Vancouver) devraient avoir lieu au début du mois de mai. Le processus de sélection des entraîneurs a commencé. Lors que les entraîneurs en chef seront sélectionnés, les dates et lieux exacts des camps de sélection, les formulaires de demande d’application ainsi que des informations additionnelles seront disponibles.

Slow days
It’s been a bit slow around here but you can blame that on the Olympics. Ever since I can remember I’ve been watching the Olympics, trying to attend them, and living for the day when possibly Ultimate can be a part of it.
