CUUC Open Finals

The trigger for last week’s post was my participation in the 3rd Annual Aurora Christmas Classic. This post is a continuation.

CUUC Women’s Final

Originally I had planned to post some Beach Ultimate today but a Festivus Miracle has occurred. The trigger was my participation in the 3rd Annual Aurora Christmas Classic. I had attended last year and was surprised by the talent present and now have made it a must attend tournament for each year.

Held at the Aurora Sports Dome in Aurora Ontario the tournament features the top young talent in region and it’s quite an important region. An excellent high school program has produced members of the UWO Mens and Women’s teams, GOAT and Grand Trunk players, players on Canada’s U23 Open and Women’s teams, and Lotus players. The number of national and international championship wins split amongst a few high schools in the region is simply astounding.

The AACC is a showcase of the youth coming up through “the system” and a barometer for what we can expect in the coming year. With that in mind consider the video below where some of the participants in the finals were playing just a few hours ago at a little hat tournament with a bunch of friends.

CUC 2010 Open Final

Rounding out the CUC 2010 series we now reach the CUC 2010 Finals between Mephisto (Montreal) and Moondoggies (Toronto+others). With the lead changing hands several times, a large crowd, and plenty of wind the finals proved to be one of the most exciting on record.

A big thank you to everybody that helped us bring the CUC 2010 series to you.

Paganello 1998 Open Finals

Continuing with our Paganello theme today you’ll find the Mir San Mir vs Wall City match from 1998. Between 1992 and 1999 German teams won every single Open Finals; on four occasions Mir San Mir were championships while Wall City won once. Not until No Tsu Oh would Mir San Mir’s record be topped. Enjoy the Open Finals below and the full Paganello 2008 DVD will be available shortly.

Paganello 2003 Finals

It’s Video Wednesday! As our editor takes a break from CUC Finals (Open will be here in December) we look to the Beach for some inspiration. The next major tournament on all Calendars (aside from Australia, you folks are always six months ahead…or behind) is Paganello. While registration is closed you should know (just between you and me) that if you had an Open or Women’s team you’d probably still be allowed to place a bid and might even be considered (consider it).
